Battle of Kennesaw Mountain
The battle of Kennesaw occured right here in what is now known as Cobb County. William T. Sherman led his army of approximately one hundred thousand to face Joseph E. Johnston's Confederacy of around half the amount the Union had but still resulted in a Confederate Victory, on the 27th of June 1864. Sherman's surprise attack o he trenches of the Confederate even after concentrated munitions. Sherman had planned early on that this would be a piece of cake utterly convincing himself and those around him that Johnston had spread his lines "too thin". Sherman titled this battle as "the hardest fight of the campaign up to that date." There was approximately three thousand men whose lives were lost along with the lives of generals Daniel McCook along with Charles Harker.
